There is a difference between asking someone to volunteer,
and asking someone to join a Lions Club. One volunteers at a car wash camp or
walks to raise money for the needy or joins in to help out a neighbor at no
cost and then they are done.
We are asking people to join us in a club, pay dues, attend
meetings, embrace traditions, attend conventions, buy clothing, climb ladders,
attend training sessions, join a family, socialize and become a Lion for life.
Is this what younger people are looking for?
Perhaps there is room for a "Lions Lite", that
asks much less but still offers the service opportunity.
Serving without the time and financial requirements of
belonging to a Lions Club.
(Yes, I know that is not what we Lions want, but perhaps it
might be what all the people who have chosen not to join us might want)
